Hervey Simmons

	Hervey 'Harvey' Simmons, 90, of Irvington, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2003 at his residence in Irvington, Ill.
	Mr. Simmons had served as district manager of operations and marketing for a large theater chain in Las Vegas, Nevada and as a theater poster artist manager.
	He was born June 30, 1912 in Sullivan, Indiana, the son of Harvey M. and Edith (Decker) Simmons.  He married  Avis Ghere on November 9, 1993 in Mt. Vernon.
	Mr. Simmons lived in Mesa, Arizona for 50 years before returning to Illinois in 1984.  He was a member of the Friedens United Church of Christ in Irvington.  He attended grade school and high school in Bonnie and was the last surviving member of his 1929 graduating class.  While living in Mesa, Ariz. he served as the past president of the Chamber of Commerce and also was district Governor of Lions International.  Through his love of music, he was a former member of a Barber Shop chorus in Mt. Vernon and sang bass in the King City Cords quartet.
	Surviving are his wife, Avis Simmons; son, Harvey M. (Nancy) Simmons III of Mesa, Ariz.; two-step-sons, Wendell (Blanche) Dugan of Effingham and Grady Lee (Carolyn) Sorrows of Du Quoin; step-daughter, Shirley (Ted) Harsha of Du Quoin; two granddaughters, Morgan and Amber Simmons of Mesa, Ariz.; eight step-grandchildren, Teddy (Susan) Harsha of Du Quoin, Pam (Pete) Grieder of Dallas, Texas, Margaret (Kevin) Dunn of Columbia, Mo., Brenda (Eric) Green of Du Quoin, Karen (David) Stokes of Brownstown, Nancy (Brian) Hibdon of Chicago and Grady and Scott Sorrows of Du Quoin and 13 great-grandchildren.
	He was preceded in death by his parents.
	Funeral services were Wednesday, March 12 at 11 a.m. at Friedens United Church of Christ in Irvington, Ill. with Rev. Doug  Turner officiating.
	Private Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery.
	Friends called Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Garnier and Sons Funeral Home in Centralia.
